Program’s Introduction
The Canadian Government introduced the Startup Visa program as a permanent federal program in 2018. It is a way of Canada Immigration as a Permanent Resident along with your family by starting or investing in a Canadian startup business that is innovative, viable and scalable. The program’s main qualifying criteria is:
- Acquire minimum 10% shareholding in a qualifying business
- Must be approved from Designated Organization of Government of Canada
- Meet the English language requirements, as explained by IELTS official body
“Has partial command of the language, coping with overall meaning in most situation, though is likely to make many mistakes. Should be able to handle basic communication in own field.” - Have enough money to settle and live in Canada, applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to settle and support themselves and their family. The specific amount required varies depending on the size of the family, but as a reference, the Government of Canada sets the minimum amount at CA$ 28,052 for a family of five.

Who can apply?
To apply for Canadian permanent residency through the Startup Visa Program, the applicant must:
- Meet program’s main qualifying criteria
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Provide certificate of good conduct
- Pass the medical and security check requirements
- Having a secondary or higher secondary level of education is suggested but not mandatory for the Startup Visa Program.

IRCC Takes Over Canada Startup Visa Program Amid Concerns: SUV Update August 2024
Starting July 1st, St. Lucia increased its minimum investment for the Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP). The new thresholds include a significant increase in the National Economic Fund option and set specific amounts for various dependent categories. Real estate and enterprise project options also have updated investment requirements. A grace period was provided for ongoing applications under the previous fee structure until June 30th 2024, with additional time to complete these applications until July 31st 2024. The legislative changes got officially announced on July 1st 2024.
