The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is a faster way to get your study permit if you’re applying to study at a Canadian college or university. This program is for people who already liveย legallyย in a country from the list below and are planning to study at a specific learning institution in Canada. The list of countries is as follows:

  • India
  • Morocco
  • Pakistan
  • Peru
  • Philippines
  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Senegal
  • Trinidad and Tobago

ELIGIBILITY:ย 

Following the documents, the applicant must include.

  1. Proof of a valid language test result that must not be more than 2 years old at the time the SDS application was received by IRCC.
  2. Proof of a guaranteed investment certificate (GIC) of CAN$10,000 or more.
  3. Proof of full payment of tuition for the applicantโ€™s first year of study.
  4. Letter of acceptance from a post-secondary DLI.
  5. Most recent secondary or post-secondary educational transcript.
  6. Proof of completion of upfront medical examination from a panel physician for applicants.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS?

If your application is incomplete or if the application processing fee, except for the biometric fee, is not included or is incorrect, it will be refused. In the case of a missing biometric fee, the officer will ask for the fee before making a decision.

FAMILY MEMBERS OF STUDY PERMIT APPLICANTS UNDER THE SDS.

If family members are applying with the main applicant under the Student Direct Stream (SDS), they can have their applications processed at the same time. To know who qualifies as a family member, check the definition in subsection R1(3).

Applications for temporary residence, like work permits, study permits, and temporary resident visas, for accompanying family members must be submitted online as part of a family grouping.

PREREQUISITE COURSES & BRIDGING PROGRAMS OF STUDY.

If applicants are enrolled in a prerequisite course or a bridging program at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) before beginning their main program, they might qualify to apply under the Student Direct Stream (SDS), as long as they meet all the eligibility criteria for the program.
